We are happy to announce 2010's TanzLand Festival program and the recent development of P.O.R.C.H. Ponderosa's Ongoing Research and Collaborative Happenings a joint venture with Kathleen Hermesdorf of the Alternative Conservatory.

will be the place to deepen and enrich our work outside - and within - the yearly TanzLand festival activites. It is an invitation for high level dance/physical performance practitioners to enjoy an extended period training and researching here, to create your own work, to get inspiring input from a professional faculty active and succesful in the performance field, and to network with the international dance scene. We invite you to visit us for one week during the Choreographic module Aug.16-20, 2010 and participate in this new GUEST workshop !

JESS CURTIS/EMBODYING THEORY This course is designed as a place for the meeting of theory and practice. Theoreticians and practitioners examining the body as a site of discourse and contention in community and action. We will bring written theory about the body, performance and everyday life into action through reading moving, seeing, sweating, speaking, feeling, breathing, sounding, listening, and writing. Readings to include articles by Michel de Certeau, Judith Butler, Maurice Merleau-Ponty, Susan Foster, Jaques Derrida and Amelia Jones.
We will begin the TanzLand festival proper, June 18, with the annual ponderosa contact jam with special guest Nancy Stark Smith leading the global underscore. Then follows 3 intensive workshop weeks with, in week 1: Nancy Stark Smith & Mike Vargas and Kathleen Hermesdorf; in week 2: Bruno Caverna & Marcela Giesche, Pipaluk Supernova & Andreas Bennetzen, Jennifer Monson and in week 3 Jess Curtis, Jonathan Burrows, Keith Hennessy. In addition, Jen Polins and Saliq Savage. The teachers offer an eclectic mix of improvisation, the art of performance making, multi-media and motion techniques.
We are delighted to offer again our retreat & training week as well as another period to research and celebrate Contact Improvisation with ci38.
