Maya Lipsker is a Choreographer, dancer and teacher based in Berlin. Danced three years in BatSheva Ensemble Dance Company and worked with choreographers such as Lara Barsacq, Arkadi Zeides and Sasha Waltz to name a few. Since 2004 began to develop her own choreographic and pedagogic work. She has undertaken artistic residencies at Dock11 (Berlin), LaborGras (Berlin), Random Collision (Netherlands), Tyrone Guthrie Center (Ireland) and Kinitiras (Athens) among others.
Maya's work focuses on details and textures, as well as the emotional impact and narratives that evolve from simple and complex elements, instructions and actions in movement and sound. The Instrument is based around the collaboration between Lipsker and composer / musician Roy Carroll, that started in 2006. In recent years they have been giving artistic workshops based on their collaborative practice all over Europe. Maya and Roy have been creating independent work in Germany, Greece, Holland and Ireland, as well as guest choreographing works for companies and academies in Europe. They have produced ten pieces together.
